My Services
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists are involved in helping people of all ages from young infants to the elderly, treating pain and stiffness in your joints, muscles, nerves and soft tissues to optimise function, recovery and wellbeing. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. I do more than just treat your symptoms; I expertly diagnose and identify the root causes to formulate a treatment plan to suit your needs. I am happy to receive GP referrals and can send treatment reports back to your GP. Alternatively you can self-refer by contacting me directly any time you have injuries, aches or pains.
Injections
Injection therapy is an extremely effective treatment helping to complement a physiotherapy programme and can be used for the following conditions:
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome; Arthritis of the Hand, Wrist and Finger Joints; Osteoarthritis knee joint; Shoulder Impingement; Subacromial Bursitis; Adhesive Capsulitis; Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis pain); Golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis); Acomioclavicular joint sprain; Trigger finger; De Quervain's Tenosynovitis; Lateral Hip Pain (Trochanteric bursitis); Ankle and subtalar joints; 1st MTPJ of big toe (big toe joint).
Injection therapy produces an anti-inflammatory and pain relieving treatment directly to the joint or soft tissues causing pain. Injection Therapy can reduce the need to take anti-inflammatory pills. Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAID’s) can cause stomach upsets and bleeding with prolonged use and often some patients are unable to take any NSAID’s at all. Injections bypass the stomach making them a preferred choice for pain relief. I will fully access your eligibility for an injection and discuss the aftercare and frequency of future treatments with you for the best outcome.
Sport-specific Rehabilitation
Playing sport and conducting regular exercise is good for your health, but sometimes injuries occur as a result of direct contact from another player or indirect forces such as falls, twists or landing awkwardly. Overuse injuries can also occur gradually or suddenly leading to tendon pain, stress fractures and muscle tightness. Whether you are an amateur sports person, semi-professional or elite sports performer I understand the importance of fast recovery and a safe return to sport. My aim is to treat your symptoms but assess the cause and identify the risk factors associated with preventing symptoms reoccurring.
I offer:
-
Full assessment of your injury
-
Treatments tailored to your needs
-
Biomechanical and gait analysis to review your running technique
-
Sport Specific Rehabilitation Programmes for individuals and team players
-
Injury prevention and pre-screening sessions to ensure you stay injury free through the season
-
Post-surgical rehabilitation
-
Sport massages to help with aches and pains after events such Charity runs, Marathons and other sporting events
Acupuncture
This is the most traditional form of needling based on the Chinese meridian systems, which has been used in China for over 2000 years. Acupuncture is one of a number of different types of treatment that your physiotherapist may offer for pain relief and to promote healing. Current research supports the effectiveness of acupuncture in the management of pain by stimulating the brain to produce natural pain relieving substances. It is particularly effective in treating low back pain, neck pain and knee osteoarthritis and is recognised in the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines as a powerful treatment modality for the alleviation of pain. Acupuncture can also help with other problems such as sleep, relaxation, stress, anxiety and general well being.nnWe may also offer you Dry needling which is a technique of inserting acupuncture needles to target trigger points within your body, the palpable tight tender areas, rather than the traditional Chinese points. This type of needling can be very good at achieving a deep muscular release, this maybe needed in those people suffering a muscular tear or injuries that have become chronic and recurrent such as ITB syndrome.

Specialist Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapist
I am a specialist neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapist with experience of working in both the NHS and private sector since 2006. I previously worked in the NHS as an Extended Scope Practitioner where I was involved in diagnosing complex musculoskeletal conditions, requesting appropriate investigations, screening and working alongside consultants.

I gained a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiology from the University of Leicester before completing an MSc in Rehabilitation at the University of Brighton. In 2015 I completed a second masters (in Advancing Neuromusculoskeletal Practice) at the University of Hertfordshire and gained MACP accreditation; this is a specialist register of the top 1000 physiotherapists in the UK who have undertaken extensive postgraduate study to reach a recognised standard of clinical excellence in neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy assessments, treatments and management.

I am a qualified injection therapist from the University of Coventry and also specialise in medical exercise therapy, acupuncture and clinical pilates. I am a member of the Acupuncture Association for Chartered Physiotherapists and have completed mat work level 1 and 2 from the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI).

I have previously provided occupational health services for leading UK businesses, and in 2008 I won a rehabilitation award for reducing sickness absence for staff with musculoskeletal conditions. Alongside this, I provided physiotherapy for GP surgeries, national and military rugby clubs, as well as providing treatments for complex and persistent pain conditions by delivering state-of-the-art biopsychosocial rehabilitation programmes.

I am currently a partner of Bury Physio in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and can be regularly found taking part in the '5k Your Way' walks with colleagues and patients.
